From the historic Block 28 vines planted in 1935, this Zinfandel pours an opaque purple-black. The nose explodes with brambly blackberry, black pepper, and molasses aromas with emerging notes of violet and dark chocolate. The palate offers remarkable density - flavors of blueberry compote, espresso, and roasted game unfold with velvety tannins that earned 94-96 point scores. Aged 16 months in American oak (35% new), this 15.2% alcohol Zin needs decanting for barbecue or will reward 3-5 more years of cellaring.
